I’m still alive… still doing lots of work… I realized 2day I only have a month left of being a teenager- so this post is dedicated to teenagers taking over the world. And like always- its the late 90s (and early 2000s…) coming at you!
This video is some encouragement for those of you like me with lots of work yet to do:
And this one’s for if you’re all done- have some fun with yr friends you wont see all summer:

floored with work
Haven’t been updating really…swamped with this paper I’ve been writing… I still exist though…. and in a true salute to being floored with work, here’s a song from the album “floored”… hit play, kick your feet up, and take a two minute breather….
Defense Secretary Gates gave a speech today announcing sweeping changes in Military funding. Reactions in Congress ranged from Hysterical Republicans to shoulder-shrugging Democrats. Basically, the military is spending a lot of money building up an army force which can defeat the armed forces of other powerful advanced capitalist nations. However, as all the official reports coming out from RAND to IMF to UN predict, the future conflicts will be asymmetrical, against insurgents, rebellions, and non-state actors. Gates plan will, for instance, cut the vehicle portion of the Future Combat System, which was a program to prototype and release about 15 new vehicle by 2030, all of which were built around mobility and light armor (not tactical at all considering the use of IEDs by insurgents).
Two things struck out at me: An Increase in spending on Predators for Iraq and Afghanistan (UAVs, unmanned airplanes). The army is desperately craving more of these and more information. The second thing is the termination of the Multiple Kill Vehicle- a device which would destroy incoming missiles of a variety of complexities. Goodbye scariest weapon ever (see video):
Currently I’m reading about video games (and race/gender/sexuality) while listening to video game soundtracks.
Enjoy this song with me.
Great isn’t it? If only I had a PS-2 at school…

ps. here’s a pretty blatant rip-off from Creative Zen:

akira
As I’m sure many of you know, Akira is being turned into a live-action movie directed by Brad Pitt. But did you know that the voice-actor who played Tetsuo is a Hampshire College alum?
worst cover of all time
Just in case you THINK you’ve heard the worst cover of all-time, you haven’t.
Here is the original song (refused – new noise):
and here is the Crazy Town version of it:
SICK WIT IT SICK WIT IT SICK WIT IT WHOOOOO
Vote Student Power
In response to my last post about liking turtles, my friends at the University of Maryland are running a pretty cool student election.

Here’s a link to their website. Wouldn’t you be excited if your school’s Student president had a Foucault tattoo also? Good luck, friends.
